cumgirl8 met in a sex chat 8000 years ago, in another metaverse. Consisting of Lida Fox (bass), Veronika Vilim (guitar), Chase Lombardo (drums) and Avishag Rodrigues (guitar), the band brings the immersive and chaotic energy of cyberspace into our world, aiming to create a sound without no boundaries capable of oscillating between the likes of ESG, Cocteau Twins, Suicide, CSS, B-52s, The Shangri-Las, Cosey, Madonna and many others.
Last year, cumgirl8 presented her debut EP on 4AD “phantasea pharm”, recorded, mixed and mastered entirely analogue. The six-track EP follows the single “dumb bitch” (2022) and the other two EPs, “cumgirl8” (2020) and “RIPcumgirl8” (2021). As much as the music itself, cumgirl8’s incendiary live performances are brilliantly chaotic and emblematic of the spirit of New York performance art. Last year, the band played a sold-out live show at the Knitting Factory in Baker Falls, NYC (formerly The Pyramid Club), then toured with Le Tigre at sold-out shows in Canada, did a headlining tour in Europe and UK, and a lot of festivals (Primavera Sound, The Great Escape, Greenman, Core Festival, Loose Ends and Pitchfork Paris).

Essaira takes shape in a 2023 marked by less than comforting climatic and cultural events, intense astrological situations, and a survival mood that is always activated. Essaira is a reappropriation of sonic and expressive time and space. Essaira is in love with what she does. Essaira is pissed off at those who try to stop him from being what he wants; it’s a wild Cerberus. Fearlessly burn what you no longer need and leave room for the spontaneity of the present.
Essaira is punkstrial: it uses multiple voices on carpets of live synths and sharp guitars, industrial rhythms that mark dark and powerful times. Essaira are Paola, Nico and Gelo.
