Jesse The Faccio

“Of Free Days, Of Lost Time,” out Nov. 8 through Dischi Sotterranei, is the new record by Jesse the Faccio.

The album takes its starting point from a love story, that between Jesse and Music. His music but also Music with a capital M.

The work was written, composed, arranged, produced, and recorded between 2021 and 2024, a period when Jesse changed a lot of his way of life, not only as an artist but also and especially as a person: new jobs, new homes, stories, people. Loneliness, love of self and others, the search for stability, normality. A long, eventful and intense phase of his life set the stage for the birth of “of free days, of lost time.”

One travels by images, as Jesse often likes to do. Everyone can sew their own story on themselves, everyone can make someone else’s story their own: for Jesse, the center of the story is in the relationship with Music: a difficult, melancholy, unstable yet full of wonderful little sensations and satisfactions, which he had already given us a taste of in the first double anticipatory single, “tell me / get on against,” released in September.

In the album’s storytelling shines through the artist’s daily life, the ups and downs, the mistakes, the question marks, the eternal questions that perhaps only sound can satisfy, more than words.

Jesse makes no secret of the fact that he had to work on this album on his very “days off,” in what, by most, is considered “wasted time.” But what is perceived by others as wasted time, for Jesse becomes a creative act, a break from everyday tasks.

Jesse’s is a personal tale that can become a collective, even political one: the discomfort of the “art profession” in a time like ours, the difficulty of making a living from art in a country like the one we live in.
