Leatherette are a band formed in Bologna in 2018, featuring Michele Battaglioli, Francesco Bonora, Jacopo Finelli, Andrea Gerardi, and Marco Jespersen. In 2021, they released their EP Mixed Waste (WWNBB), followed by extensive live performances across Italy, Europe, and the UK.
In 2022, they signed with Bronson Recordings and released their debut album Fiesta, which received praise from both the Italian and international press (including NME and The New Cue). Several tracks from the album were featured by Iggy Pop on his BBC Radio 6 show.
Their second album, Small Talk, was released in November 2023 via Bronson Recordings. It was produced and mixed by Chris Fullard (IDLES, Tim Hecker, SUNN O)))), and mastered by Adam Gonsalves (Telegraph Mastering, Portland, OR). With this record, Leatherette performed at showcase festivals such as Linecheck, Eurosonic, MENT, and The Great Escape, as well as major national and international festivals including INMUSIC, Here I Stay, Ferrara Sotto le Stelle, Diluvio, TV Spenta, Waldstock, and Arti Vive.
In spring 2025, they embarked on a European and UK tour in support of Small Talk, accompanied by the release of the singles Itchy and Delusional, both of which were aired by Iggy Pop on BBC Radio 6. After a short break, Leatherette returned to the studio to record a new album, Ritmo Lento, set for release at the end of November.
