Big Mountain County was born in Rome in 2013 from the meeting of four guys from southern Italy, two from the slopes of Etna and two from the Adriatic coast. Their shared passion for The Stooges, MC5, The Velvet Underground and Joe Spencer leads to the release of a 7-inch full of pure Garage Rock & Roll. This debut pushes them on an adventurous tour through Eastern Europe, touching countries such as Hungary, Serbia, Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina. They soon abandoned Garage Rock to immerse themselves in the European neopsychedelic renaissance and in the following years earned a reputation in the lively continental live scene. They have two LPs under their belt – ‘Breaking Sound’ (Gas Vintage Records, 2015) and ‘Somewhere Else’ (Porto Records, 2020) – along with a live album. After incessant tours throughout Europe and the United Kingdom, during which they participate in festivals such as Sziget Festival, Binic Folk Blues Festival, ESNS, Fusion Festival and open the Italian tour of Cloud Nothings in 2019, they finally land in the United States in 2023. Here they perform at the New Colossus in New York and in six different locations at SXSW, where they share the stage with Osees and Os Mutantes. Al loro ritorno in Italia, aprono i concerti estivi per Brian Jonestown Massacre e La Femme. The EP released in the same year, ‘Klaus’, marks a bold new turning point, embracing a sound more contaminated by electronics, returning, at the same time, to punk origins. Thanks to collaborations with cult figures such as the Roman producer Hugo Sanchez and Al Lover, protagonist of the American psych scene and resident DJ at LEVITATION, the creation of ‘Klaus’ gave the band a revitalizing spark, projecting them towards a new musical direction. ‘Deep Drives’, the band’s third LP, will be released on November 29, 2024 via Sister 9 Recordings (UK).
‘Deep Drives’, the band’s third LP, will be released on November 29, 2024 via Sister 9 Recordings (UK). The album is the natural continuation of a path in which, at the helm of their artistic production, Big Mountain County manage to release all their explosiveness, passing through their human and musical experience. The eight tracks of the album tell, without filters, shared experiences and visions, indulging the deepest instincts and tracing a sonic universe where the mix between synthetic and analogue sounds is explored with equal spontaneity. A calibrated and elegant use of the electronic component intersects with sharp and genuinely punk sounds, which have always been rooted in the band’s roots. ‘Deep drives’ takes the listener into the unfathomable depths of the mind, where the deepest instincts count, which guide us through moments of pure enjoyment and freedom and torment us when darkness and desolation reign supreme, amidst bewitching night sirens. ‘Going Down’, ‘Don’t Know Why’ and ‘No Time To Lose’ find their space on the album, bold and immediate punk bombs that do not deny the band’s origins, but also ‘Follow Me’ and ‘Last Call’, songs with a slow, incessant rhythm, marked by an electronic rhythm with tribal veins, on which synthetic sounds, raw and strident guitars and a deep and persuasive voice are intertwined. There is no lack of groove in songs like ‘Electric Church’ and ‘No Solution’, while the electronic contamination is sublimated in ‘Bright Black Hole’ and ‘Last Call’, in which the ‘Deep Drives’ emerge in complete freedom, narrating a authentic experiential catharsis.
During the weekend there the new night lines are available, to move around Bologna and its surroundings throughout the night (with departures every half hour!).
Get on board the N3 line and arrive at Covo (and go home!) whenever you want, wherever you live.
In this period (and for a long time) it is possible that in this area there'll be construction work that limit the availability of parking spots nearby. If you cannot find a parking space in viale Zagabria, we recommend looking in the following streets: Kharkov, della Campagna, Francoforte, Machiavelli.
