Flavio Giurato is undoubtedly the best-kept secret of the Italian singer-songwriter scene. Born in Rome in 1949, Flavio is a cult artist among insiders and devoted fans. His recording debut dates back to 1978 with Per Futili Motivi, a vinyl record never reissued on CD and now available only through collectors’ rare-record shops and websites.
His next album, Il Tuffatore (CGD, 1982), is widely considered his absolute masterpiece. The album appears in Rolling Stone Italia’s list of the 100 greatest Italian albums of all time, at number 84. Recently reissued on vinyl, Il Tuffatore also inspired several well-known Italian writers — including Aldo Nove, Tiziano Scarpa, Paolo Nori, Simone Lenzi, Gianrico Carofiglio, Fulvio Abbate, and others — to write short stories collected in the 2004 volume Il tuffatore – Racconti e opinioni su Flavio Giurato.
Marco Polo (1984) was his third album, followed by an extremely long recording silence that lasted almost twenty years. Giurato nonetheless continued writing songs and, at times, performing live simply for the pleasure of it. Meanwhile, his “cult” status spread through the internet: dedicated websites, downloadable MP3s, and material exchanges helped keep his work alive.
In the 2000s, he returned with two new albums of original material: Il manuale del cantautore (2002) and La scomparsa di Majorana (2015). In 2017, he released Le promesse del mondo, a concept album about migration — about movement, travel, and the shifting of human beings across the globe — told through events rather than commentary, seen from multiple angles rather than a single viewpoint.

Tra fine 2025 e inizio 2026 è atteso un ritorno sulle scene con il nuovo disco “Il Console Generale” e un nuovo tour.

IF YOU ARRIVE BY CAR...

In this period (and for a long time) it is possible that in this area there'll be construction work that limit the availability of parking spots nearby. If you cannot find a parking space in viale Zagabria, we recommend looking in the following streets: Kharkov, della Campagna, Francoforte, Machiavelli.
