The band GIFT – TJ Freda, Jessica Gurewitz, multi-instrumentalist Justin Hrabovsky, drummer Gabe Camarano, and bassist Kallan Campbell – has roots scattered across the globe (from Salt Lake City to San Francisco, via Boston and Brazil) and comes from extremely diverse professional backgrounds: photography, talent buying, DJing, sound engineering, art direction, and even DIY venue management.
This melting pot of heterogeneous skills makes Illuminator a surprisingly cohesive listening experience, with Gurewitz – relatively new to the music world – contributing lyrics and vocal melodies, while Camarano’s drumming provides the essential rhythmic backbone for the album’s 11 tracks.
Hrabovsky, who previously worked as a sound technician at the renowned Drop of Sun and Echo Mountain Recording studios in Asheville, North Carolina, shared production duties for the first time with Freda.
GIFT formed in 2020, when Freda “recruited” musicians from some of his favorite bands, crossing his fingers and hoping for the best. From there, the band drew on their collective experiences to shape a bold new sound — a whirling blend of early shoegaze, ’90s alternative rock, and modern pop — which took shape in their 2022 debut album Momentary Presence.
The LP was a testament to the untapped creative potential lying beneath the surface, and it wasn’t long before the band caught the attention of curious listeners both at home and across the Atlantic.
Illuminator is the natural culmination of GIFT’s growing musical — and human — chemistry. The album reveals so much about us without ever saying it outright: falling in love, heartbreak, events rushing past like cars on the highway, people drifting in and out of our lives, the mourning that comes with life’s transitions, and the feeling that everything is happening all at once.
For these reasons and many more, Illuminator, friends, is destined to become the soundtrack of your life.

Get on board the N3 line and arrive at Covo (and go home!) whenever you want, wherever you live.
In this period (and for a long time) it is possible that in this area there'll be construction work that limit the availability of parking spots nearby. If you cannot find a parking space in viale Zagabria, we recommend looking in the following streets: Kharkov, della Campagna, Francoforte, Machiavelli.
