“Dim Probs” is Gruff Rhys’ ninth solo album, written and performed entirely in Welsh and recorded in Bristol with producer Ali Chant (Yard Act, PJ Harvey). The album interweaves acoustic folk and lo-fi electronic sounds, returning an intimate and hypnotic work that confirms Rhys as one of the most visionary and profound songwriters on the contemporary British scene.
The first extracted track, “Chwyn Chwyldroadol!” is already available on all digital platforms.
With “Dim Probs,” Gruff Rhys returns to a direct and personal musical language capable of traversing universal themes with irony and poetry, ranging from existential fragility to social tensions to a surprising eulogy of the beauty hidden in small things.
Gruff Rhys is a singer-songwriter and musician based in Cardiff, Wales, and has a career spanning more than three decades with 26 studio albums to his credit. From the outset, he has explored ever-new musical and lyrical territories: from his solo debut Yr Atal Genhedlaeth (2005), steeped in Welsh puns, to the acclaimed Candylion and Hotel Shampoo, to more ambitious concepts such as American Interior (2014), Babelsberg (2018) and Pang! (2019).
With Seeking New Gods (2021) he reached the Top 10 on the official British charts, while in 2024 he released Sadness Sets Me Free, hailed as one of his best works. The year 2025 marked a return to an all-Welsh language album with Dim Probs.
In addition to his solo career, Rhys was the charismatic frontman of Super Furry Animals, one of the most innovative and beloved bands on the British music scene, capable of blending psychedelic rock, pop harmonies, and electronic experimentation.
He also formed the duo Neon Neon with Boom Bip, dedicated to telling the lives of out-of-the-box figures such as John DeLorean and Giangiacomo Feltrinelli in electro-pop.
An eclectic artist, Rhys has collaborated with Gorillaz, Africa Express, Mogwai, Sparklehorse, Danger Mouse, Sabrina Salerno, Imarhan and many others. In parallel, he has written books, film and video game soundtracks, music for plays and documentaries, confirming a multifaceted and unique artistic career.
