Il mago del gelato

Those of Il Mago Del Gelato are not just concerts, but totalizing and irrepressible experiences that melt the hearts and bodies of those who participate. In fact, playing live is an inescapable part of the band’s identity: a glowing, magical dimension, a continuous exchange of energy between those above and those below the stage. A collective and festive ritual in which to meet, get to know each other and go wild.

Who Is Nicola Felpieri?, the first album by Il Mago Del Gelato, released in March by Dischi Numero Uno, is a lethal mix of afrobeat, funk and jazz and with a cosmopolitan and contaminated soul, in which energetic and percussive moments alternate naturally with introspective and sensual atmospheres. Nicola Il Felpieri is the unwitting and enigmatic protagonist of a ten-track musical tale, embellished by collaborations with Venerus, Le Feste Antonacci and Mélanie Chedeville, which have confirmed Il Mago del gelato as one of the most eclectic and original projects around.

BIOGRAPHY

Il Mago Del Gelato is a band composed of four musicians (Giovanni Doneda, Ferruccio Perrone, Pietro Gregori and Alessandro Paolone) who are fascinated by the cultural variety of the world. This curiosity, both musically and humanly, underlies their work, right from the formation’s name: a tribute to a bar on Via Padova in Milan that is a meeting place for the four of them and for the entire neighborhood, where different languages and ethnicities constantly mix. From that corner of the world they observe, contaminate and find inspiration for their music. After winning over audiences by performing in the most underground settings in Milan and in numerous concerts in Italy and abroad, in April 2023, although they have not yet released any songs, they are included in Rolling Stone’s Class 2023 i.e., the selection of the year’s promising. In May of the same year they performed at Mi Ami, an occasion that coincided with the release of their first single, Ginger, followed in June by Elixir and in September by Stracciatella. The three tracks anticipate the release of the first EP Damn That Night (October 2023) produced by Marquis. With this work, the band firmly asserts its funk-jazz sound by mixing it with influences from the music for Italian cinema of the 1960s. In 2024, Il Mago Del Gelato officially joins the roster of Dischi Numero Uno, releasing in April the single Pandora, which marks a new stage in their artistic journey. December 2024 sees the release of the new track Granturismo, January 24, 2025 Tic Tac together with French artist Mélanie Chedeville and Feb. 28 On Tiptoe with the duo Le Feste Antonacci, songs that anticipate the debut album Who Is Nicola Felpieri? released on March 14, 2025 by Dischi Numero Uno. The release is followed by a series of spring club dates and a long summer tour throughout Italy named after their new single Watermelon, released on July 18 by Number One Records. The club tour, organized by All Things Live, starts on October 29.
