Margaritas Podridas, based in Hermosillo, Mexico, were born out of an admiration for the underground rock scene of the 1990s, drawing inspiration from the distortion-laden writing of grunge, the noisy pop of shoegaze, and the sonic explorations of that decade’s college rock guitar icons.
In addition to their sound, there is a political soul and DIY ethos in them, reminiscent of the combative idealism of their musical predecessors, evident in their efforts to build a music scene in their hometown when they were still minors, in their refusal to use English despite a growing international fanbase, and in their tendency to challenge sexism, both in the music industry and in the world at large.
Recently passedat on Hopeless Records, on which they recently released the singles “Mugre Morada,” “Pólvora,” “Agujas,” and “Tornillo,” awaiting a new long-distance work that has been missing since 2021.
During the weekend there the new night lines are available, to move around Bologna and its surroundings throughout the night (with departures every half hour!).
