In British small towns where not much happens beyond real life, there is enough quiet to work out plans and the energy, momentum and initiative needed to fuel any desire to escape.

The K’s, a four-piece indie rock phenomenon from Merseyside that chronicles the real world, grew up in a “middle” town and used every advantage and disadvantage of an isolated youth to create their debut album, “I Wonder If The World Knows?” which reached the Top 3 of the UK Official Album Chart on its first attempt.

A success born of conviction. Catalyzed by sold-out tours throughout the UK, culminating in a 3,700-person “homecoming” at Manchester’s O2 Victoria Warehouse, the Best Revelation award at the 2024 Nordoff Robbins Northern Music Awards (known as the “Brits of the North”), and landing on the stages of major festivals, including debuting at Glastonbury in 2024, as well as Reading, Leeds, Isle of Wight, Camp Bestival, Kendal Calling and others.

But beyond awards and radio airplay is the connection with a true army of fans, many of whom have been following them since 2017. Singer and songwriter Jamie Boyle told NME in April 2024 that they constantly receive messages from fans saying how much their music has helped them through difficult times. “It’s worth more than any recognition,” he said. “We have a huge impact on people’s lives.”

The K’s – Jamie Boyle (vocals/guitar), Ryan Breslin (guitar/keys), Dexter Baker (bass) and Nathan Peers (drums) – formed in Earlestown in 2017. This is not a fairy tale of instant success. Since their first single, “Sarajevo” (2017), which mixes straightforward songwriting and references to 20th-century European political history, they have shown that they are not just any indie band.

After quickly climbing the local venues (reaching the 1,000-seat Manchester Academy 2 in 2019) and with a few releases through Alan McGee’s Creation23 label, The K’s had released only one album so far. What happened in the seven years between “Sarajevo” and “I Wonder If The World Knows?” One thing only: calm.
As Breslin told Celeb Mix, “I’m glad we took our time and didn’t rush anything…. That step back due to COVID was actually a wise choice.”

In a world always projected to tomorrow, The K’s have focused on the present, writing real, personal songs. Singles like “No Place Like Home” and “Heart On My Sleeve” combine ambition and lyrical realism, vulnerability and celebration. Boyle stated, “People understand if you are not authentic. Many songs are about my struggle with mental health. I live a dream, but there are days when I feel like crap. If that helps others, then it’s worth it.”

Their sound is inspired by Jimi Hendrix, Chuck Berry, The Clash, The Jam, and others. In 2024 they supported the Blossoms in their biggest concert (30,000 people) and participated in the Malta Weekender with Liam Gallagher.

Now, finally, The K’s are experiencing their moment of ultimate consecration: the second album, Pretty On The Internet, debuted straight to No. 1 on the UK Official Album Chart, surpassing legends such as Paul Weller, Alice Cooper and even Oasis.

It was a resounding achievement, built on the enthusiasm of fans and the strength of an album that was able to expand the band’s sonic and narrative identity without losing authenticity.

As Rolling Stone UK wrote in its review:

“With Pretty On The Internet, The K’s prove that they are not just the next big thing, but one of the most relevant and sincerely powerful bands on the British scene today.”

Their new tour-the Pretty On The Internet Tour-will touch the most important venues of their career: from London’s 3,000-seat Roundhouse to a double date at a 6,000-plus-seat venue in Manchester to sold-out spaces of more than 2,000 people throughout the UK
