Umarell is the project of Martin Giovannella, a musician and producer from Bologna, born in 2005.

The project was born in 2023 with the release of the first album, CANTIERE, released in May. Its roots are varied, but it finds common ground in electronica, indie, alternative music, and trap, with influences from grime, drum and bass, and trip-hop, all characterized by a strong indie sleaze identity.

The second album, BOLOGNA!, is a tribute to the project’s city of origin, a tribute to the environment from which Umarell was born. Through its 10 tracks, the album takes the listener through the most iconic places, the dearest people, language, gastronomy and the adolescent-Bolognese attitude, culminating with an ode to the Garisenda Tower, currently at risk of collapse. BOLOGNA! is a farewell to an old friend, a symbol of stability that suddenly falters.

After presenting the album in several Italian cities, performing in historic venues and participating in major festivals such as the Rotondo Music Festival in Senigallia, Umarell has expanded his international horizons. He gave two concerts in New York, one in Manhattan and one in Harlem, which were recorded and released as live albums. Subsequently, the tour included a stop in Lugano, Switzerland, with a performance at Studio Foce on November 22, 2024.

The third album, ROCK & ROLL is, scheduled for April 2025, with a more electroclash, 2000s-inspired orientation and a visual aesthetic that blends retro elegance with a chaotic digital atmosphere.

IF YOU ARRIVE BY CAR...

In this period (and for a long time) it is possible that in this area there'll be construction work that limit the availability of parking spots nearby. If you cannot find a parking space in viale Zagabria, we recommend looking in the following streets: Kharkov, della Campagna, Francoforte, Machiavelli.
