COVO CLUB 45 YEARS FESTIVAL | 45 years of rock history Italy’s longest-running alt venue celebrates the occasion with an unmissable concert series—between punk rock and indie, post-punk and rock ’n’ roll. Bands that have made our venue’s history and groups that will shape its future will trade places on stage in a month of festivities filled with guitars, dancing, and surprises. YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST. SINCE 1980!

After a wait of more than seven years, We Are Scientists are finally returning to Italy in the heart of autumn 2025. The indie rock band will bring their new album Qualifying Miles—out on July 18, 2025 via Groenland Records—to the stage for the very first time.

Formed in 1999 in California and now based in New York, We Are Scientists are made up of Keith Murray (vocals and guitar) and Chris Cain (bass). The band achieved international success with the single Nobody Move, Nobody Get Hurt, from the album With Love and Squalor (2006), which sold over 100,000 copies in its first six months.
Over the years, they have released several albums, including Brain Thrust Mastery (2008), Barbara (2010), TV en Français (2014), Helter Seltzer (2016), Megaplex (2018), Huffy (2021), and Lobes (2023).
Their music is influenced by bands such as The Strokes, Interpol, and The Rapture, and they are known for incorporating comedic elements into their live shows and music videos.

Qualifying Miles, the band’s ninth studio album, is preceded by the singles Lucky Just to Be Here and Till the Wheels Fall Off, which highlight a return to a more guitar-driven, raw sound compared to their previous record Lobes (2023), which leaned toward synth-pop. With Qualifying Miles, Murray and Cain embrace a more direct melodic intensity while maintaining the taste for clever choruses and ironic lyrics that have always distinguished them.

Opening

Sean McVerry

A careful blend of wandering melodies and “dollar store” theatricality fuels the work of artist and composer Sean McVerry. At its core, his crooner sensibility rests on shimmering synth layers, blossoming keyboard arrangements, and an unrelenting groove. His lyrical language is sincere yet sometimes frenetic, dancing along the beats to create a musical palette brimming with potential energy.
The Brooklyn-based artist has carried his musical vocabulary across many corners of the industry, from hip-hop production for artists such as J.I.D. and Princess Nokia, to collaborations with Danger Mouse, Karen O, and AURORA. He has released two EPs and several singles, praised by outlets like Mic.com, Impose, and Paste Magazine.
Since his debut with Hourglass Switchboard I & II, Sean has explored soundscapes reminiscent of bands like Grizzly Bear and LCD Soundsystem, eventually arriving at his new wave dream Private Lives, steeped in the neon pulses of synths in the vein of Tears for Fears and Duran Duran. He is a humble student of music and a product of a constantly shifting environment. His first full-length album, Death of The Golden Boy, was released on September 18, 2020 via AntiFragile Music.
Beyond his solo project, he also fronted the Brooklyn band TELECOMS, which released its self-titled debut album in 2024 through Better Company Records.
