UK / post-punk / Yala! Records

Every element of Egyptian Blue’s angular, uncompromising sound carries with it an urgency that is both rare and vital. Their combo of critically acclaimed EPs, both released via Yala! Records, have made the Brighton band a truly compelling lineup.

From their jolting post-punk, groove-oriented rage to their polemical streak, the quartet has started to get noticed in all the right places.

Tracks “Collateral” and “Nylon Wire” were featured on the BBC 6Music playlist, while further support came from Jack Saunders, Steve Lamacq, John Kennedy and fellow artists including Joe Talbot (IDLES) and Yannis Philippakis (Foals).

Lifelong friends Andy Buss and Leith Ambrose formed the band in their hometown of Colchester (UK) with bassist Luke Phelps. Initially they rehearsed above a jewelry store, like a band reacting to the mundanity of their surroundings. Early jams often turned into marathons of fourteen hours or more, made even more chaotic by the amount of whiskey they shared and the increasing attention of the local police. After moving to Brighton, the turning point came at the King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard concert. Seeing a band done and done made them rethink the work ethic their project required. The addition of drummer Isaac Ide completed the puzzle, offering a more intense direction to the band, along with a new wave of creativity.

The debut album “A living commodity” has been released in 2023 through Yala! Records.

IF YOU ARRIVE BY CAR...

In this period (and for a long time) it is possible that in this area there'll be construction work that limit the availability of parking spots nearby. If you cannot find a parking space in viale Zagabria, we recommend looking in the following streets: Kharkov, della Campagna, Francoforte, Machiavelli.
