For nearly a decade they have relentlessly honed their craft, pouring out every note with a precision that borders on obsessive. It is not just passion that drives them, but the compelling need to express themselves, a force that drives them to create and perform with a visceral intensity that is thrilling and terrifying at the same time.

“Knocknarea” is the quartet’s debut project and is the highest-rated EP of 2023 on Rate Your Music and Album of the Year. Anthony Fantano reviewed the project, stating that “the performances are tight, the lyrics are breathtaking, the guitars and saxophones are really dynamic and fantastic…” and goes on to say: “…in this EP, there’s so much potential, there is so much good material… I have no doubt that with something of this quality just released, we will have an even better album in the future. Maruja’s work has reached a further step of furious growth with the EP released in April, “Connla’s Well”, in which the post-punk and post-rock of the English band deviate even further towards dark-jazz and noise , moving from the well of wisdom of Irish mythology, the place where poets and philosophers would have liked to encounter Knowledge.
